REUNION ACTIVITIES

Additional Activities during Reunion Weekend

THE CLASS HELD A BIKE/TRAIN EXCURSION, “EASTVIEW”/REVERE TOUR, AFTERNOON TEA AND MORE

Just as at our 60th Birthday Reunion in 2015, additional activities were held during Reunion Weekend.

Whether by train, bus, air or by car, classmates returned to Summit County. The Reunion Committee hopes you thoroughly enjoyed your weekend.

We had signature reunion activities Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday morning/afternoon. But what did classmates do the rest of the time?

Here are some additional optional activities that were held:

FRIDAY

BIKE/TRAIN EXCURSION: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22

Host: Denise Torgerson Smith

Bike/Train Ride (weather permitting)

Those renting bikes MET at Century Cycles at 9:45 a.m.

**Century Cycles: 1621 Main Street, Peninsula, OH 44264

--Train schedule: The train arrived in Peninsula at 10:50 and departed at 11:10. We de-boarded at Botzum Trailhead (around 11:30) and biked back on the Towpath trail to Peninsula.

--Return trip: The timing for the return trip depended on how much the group stopped to see sites along the way (e.g., the locks, the beaver marsh, the quarry, Szalay’s Market). Approximately 1.5 hours would be a reasonable estimate, but maybe plan on two hours.

We all met at 10:15 to 10:30 and rode the train together as far as the Botzum Station (located on the corner of Bath Road and Riverview; enter from Riverview south of Bath Road).

--After the ride: Some may ate at the Winking Lizard or Fisher’s Café. There were a number of shops to explore in Peninsula as well.

Train Ride

--Route: The ride took riders to Akron and back to Peninsula and was approximately two hours long. The train departed Peninsula at 11:10 and arriveed back around 1:20 p.m.

--Peninsula Depot: 1630 Mill Street West, Peninsula, OH 44264

--After the ride: Some chose to eat at the Winking Lizard or Fisher’s Café. There were a number of shops to explore in Peninsula as well.
